About Me

HR Coach | Leadership Mentor | Advocate for the HR Underdogs

I didn’t start my career with a big plan. In fact, I was supposed to be a flight attendant.

But just before I boarded that path, I realized it wasn’t my dream — it was my mom’s. So I pivoted. I enrolled in college, pursued Psychology, and fumbled my way through biology labs and fetal pig dissections (twice). I waited tables at a Mexican restaurant and witnessed my first real leader — Eugene — the manager who led by doing. That stuck with me.

From Temp to HR Leader

My professional journey began as a temp receptionist at a defense contractor I had never heard of (turns out, it was a big deal). What started as a job quickly became a launchpad. Over eight years at Lockheed Martin, I moved from temp to receptionist to administrative assistant to customer support to buyer. Along the way, I went back to school, earned a Bachelor's in HR Management, and nearly completed my MBA — all while working full-time.

When I finally stepped into HR officially, I had a front-row seat to both the best and worst of leadership. I’ve seen power plays, gatekeeping and toxic cultures… but I’ve also had mentors who changed the trajectory of my life. One, in particular, taught me the philosophy I live and lead by: “Treat people the way you’d want your parents to be treated.”

That one sentence reshaped my leadership style and the way I support others in their growth.

From Burnout to Breakthrough

After years of climbing the HR ladder — including leading the hiring of 1,500 people at Volvo’s first US auto manufacturing plant start-up — I hit a wall. Burnout blindsided me. I had been bullied, overworked, and undervalued. I didn’t even recognize myself anymore.

After I was let go in the most corporate way possible — completely blindsided, folder in hand, security escort, after building the very foundation of that organization — I cried and slept for two months straight.

That experience woke me up. I knew one thing for sure: That would never happen to me again.

I realized what I loved most wasn’t the systems, the compliance, or the policies — it was the people. Coaching, mentoring, growing others. That was the part that lit me up. So I stopped doing other people’s HR and started coaching the people who do.

Why I Do This Work

I was an HR department of one.
I didn’t have a mentor in the beginning.
I figured it out the hard way — with grit, late nights, and a whole lot of self-doubt.

And that’s why I do this work now: To be the coach and thought partner I wish I had.

Today, I coach HR professionals who feel stuck in the weeds, unsure how to move from tactical to strategic, and ready to step into their power. My clients are often departments of one, early in their HR careers, or newly promoted and overwhelmed. They're smart, capable, and full of potential — they just need someone who gets it to guide them.

My Approach

I bring 20+ years of corporate HR experience, an MBA, and a whole lot of heart. I believe real growth doesn’t come from another certification — it comes from strategy, clarity, and courage. I help you lead with intention, communicate with confidence, and move from reactive chaos to strategic impact.
